Thanks ever so much for visiting :3 Feel free to pop into the chatango on the left and say hello - even if you're only briefly stopping in to advertise. We're super duper friendly! (And modest, too >_>) *grins*
Spy, Noblewoman, Rogue - this girl does it all. Faraday, the unofficial spymaster of Tortall, has been a busy, busy girl; wherever one goes, there is a very real possibility that this agent of mischief might show up. Played by Moira, Faraday delivers to her threads comic relief and personal anguish for the other characters, a wild, crazy lady! Congrats, Faraday, and Congrats, Moira!
Anyone who's ever read a Joffrey thread knows what they're getting: a neurotic, wimpy, oddly-endearing fellow who hails from the neighboring nation of Tusaine. A truly wonderful application was filled out for this guy, and Milly plays the rambling philosopher with a poise and deftness most only wish they could achieve. Congrats, Joff, and Congrats, Milly!
This is a stellar thread, really! Not only is the ever-present Faraday sticking her nose wherever it most certainly doesn't belong, but the Lady Knight Shaylynn makes a rare social appearance, as well; we also meet the wonderful character of Lady Rhiann of Darroch, a young widow who has just returned to Corus after years of married isolation. These three lovely ladies are a treat to follow, and while, sadly, Kelly (Rhiann's handler) isn't on the forum any more, we do hope to see more from Shaylynn and Faraday!
If you wish to view their applications, the names are linked!
Moira is one of the owners and creators of CiT. She plays, as of yet, three characters on the forum. She's usually around, and if you can't find her on the forum, you can usually get ahold of her via AIM (she's got it connected to her phone :p). Her account in the chatango is "Sandetiger," and you're more than welcome to call her Sande if you want to. As a side-note, Moira's female - never mind the rules of the internet!

The classes do not dine together, nor does the royal family spend all mealtimes with their court. Because of this, the palace has several different dining areas.
The palace has more than its share of libraries, however its largest, and most impressive, lies in an outbuilding and is the favored destination for scholars and avid readers. Consisting of four stories, three are filled with shelving, and the ground floor consists of small workspaces, administrative areas, and a small lounge.
This is the place any resident of the palace retreats to when they are wounded or hurt in some way more serious than a simple papercut or cat scratch. Though soldiers will sometimes come whining about paper cuts anyway when they're forced to fill out any sort of paper work.
The palace gardens, while not the most practical use of such large expanses of space nor as magnificient as they once were, are quite remarkable. Carefully designed by mages gifted in that area, the impressive green space is one where anyone would like to spend a sunny day.
The perfect location for pages and squires to improve their skills, and for knights to keep skills already gained sharp. There are several yards - some smaller ones ideal for sparring, some longer ones best suited for jousting and archery, and some that are just larger in general, best suited for group training.
The horses in the palace stables serve countless purposes. Some pull carriages, others are used by the pages, or are the mounts of knights, and more still belong to noble residents or guests. To accommodate such a large number, the stables actually consist of three separate buildings, with a large staff of grooms and stablehands.
This is the building that makes knights. At midwinter of their fourth year as squires, youngsters come here and sit an evening vigil. Within it lies the Chamber of the Ordeal, where squires must face their fears in silence to become knights, or die trying.
Tortall's grandest of universities has made a name for itself over the years as a prime location for the training of healers and scholars; as well as a place to find magical innovations and conduct research.
The Royal Forest borders on Corus, the capital. The pages and Queen's Rider trainees often visit the forest for training. It is known to be inhabited by spidrens.
Located on the edge of the Royal Forest, this is the area in which the specialized force known as the Queen's Riders is quartered along with their mounts and other necessities.
Situated above Prettybone, the Highfields district of Corus has fallen in the past 300 years from being a tolerable place to live to being just as bad as the Lower City but far more vulnerable to illnesses due to its smaller area.
Located between Highfields and the River Olorun, this slightly upscale district of the city boasts a large marketplace and reasonably attractive, if usually cramped, living spaces.
Like Prettybone, this is a slightly upscale district of the city, though it does see more in the way of marketplace scams. Best known for a large, reasonably well-kept park at its center, an unusual amount of green space for an inner-city area that is neither the Common, nor the Palace, Flash lies along the southern bank of the River Olorun, north of Unicorn and Patten, and east of the Lower City.
Craftsmans District arose from the poverty-ridden ruins of the once fashionable Patten district. It's a trade district that catered to King Jonathan V's warmongering efforts and is left floundering now that peace has arrived. It actually only takes up a little over half of the previous district, the rest having been swallowed by the Lower City to the west.
The most prestigious district in the city, Unicorn lies to the east of Craftsman and Upmarket, and to the south of Flash. It's half the size it once was, the other part making up part of Craftsmans. As upscale as a citizen can get without relocating to the palace, the high-security (which over time has led to the lowest crime rate in Corus) area is as fashionable as it is pricey.
Being the poorest district in Corus has also made the Lower City the most crime-ridden in the city, and few higher-paying job opportunities make becoming well-off enough to move elsewhere a rarity. Coincidentally it is also the largest district, not to mention its expansion to overcome half of the former Patten district. Still, to many commoners, 'The Cesspool' is home, and they make do.
A grassy area south of the Lower City and north of the Temple District in Corus. People like to gather here and hold festivals such as Beltane - and on normal days picnics and the like are enjoyed on the grounds. People like to bring their horses to the Common to exercise them, and a track of sorts has been worn into the soil as a result.

That's what they say a picture is worth, right? Whether it's true or not is up for debate, but the fact remains that graphics and those that do them are incredible, and they deserve our awe. Some of the members may have set up graphic shops, so don't hesitate to pop in and request a graphic if you need one.
